The rule of thirds in cinematic shots
Divide the frame into nine squares with two horizontal and two vertical lines. Put the subject’s eye on one of the intersections.
Why it works
The eye is not comfortable dead center. A small offset gives the shot life.
When to break it
Symmetrical shots use the center on purpose. Break the rule when you know why.
